Love's Labour's Lost @ TTC 2026

The 2014 musical adaptation of Love's Labour's Lost is intended to play on a unit set, so our design team had an opportunity to lavish extra attention on the details despite our company's traditionally short production windows. In addition to leading a volunteer team of painters and designing treatments for all textured surfaces–including a stone well, plater villa, wooden deck, wooden bar, and paneled hot tub–I also got to design a giant mural for our 56'W x 20'H back wall. Inspired by the scenic Berkshires, I sketched rolling hills and mountains peppered with deciduous trees. The autumnal foliage pulls double duty, invoking the back-to-school vibes of a university reunion and visually foreshadowing the play's bittersweet ending, when the lovers part ways as summer gives way to winter. As I only had a few weeks to cover 1,120 square feet of blank wall, I enlisted lots of helpers to make my dream a reality, including business majors from Texas A&M seeking volunteer hours. I am proud to report that 20 different people picked up a brush to transform our dusty back wall, previously hidden for a year behind a scrim, into a lush countryside.
