This set is practically perfect in every way! Reunited with my friend and frequent collaborator, set designer Vivian Vu, I was given lots of free rein to design paint treatments for this production. I was particularly fond of the Banks house wallpaper and brick treatment for the iconic “Step in Time” sequence. Much of the paint design for this set was informed by Mrs. Banks’ character and the notion of what she would and would not want for her home and her children. Therefore, inspired by our lovely actor and the character as written, we created an elegant yet cozy treatment, with soft colors and solid, rich woods.
