The centerpiece of my 2024 MFA solo exhibition, home / office, is “See You At Home,” a stop motion animated short film based on interview audio of three contemporary American laborers describing their average workday. The film features three unique puppets, each made with an aluminum armature, upholstery foam body, hand sewn clothing, and 3D printed head.
“See You At Home” invokes the aesthetics of a classic Victorian dollhouse to draw connections between historical gender roles and the invisible labor on which contemporary American society is built today. This creative direction took time to develop, however, and the character designs above contain more modern explorations in addition to the Victoriana that I ultimately preferred.
